Fnatic have announced the decision to part ways with their Rainbow Six Siege roster. Heading into the next season, Fnatic is "taking this opportunity to explore our options," which include "assessing other regions."
Fnatic's last appearance at an international Rainbow Six Siege competition was at the Six Invitational 2020. Almost four years later, the team's future in the game is uncertain.
Fnatic joined Rainbow Six Siege in Apr. 2018 after picking up Mindfreak's roster, which had reached the Six Invitational 2018's Top 8.
In 2018, Fnatic played in the Six Paris Major and the Pro League S8 Finals. While they finished in 12th - 9th place in France, the Australians knocked out Evil Geniuses from the Pro League S8 Finals while playing with their coach Jayden "Dizzle" Saunders.
Fnatic's best results in Rainbow Six Siege came in 2019 and 2020 when the organization reached the Six Invitational 2019 Top 8 and the Six Invitational 2020 Top 6. The team also qualified for the Six Raleigh Major and the Pro League S9 Finals, where they finished in 16th - 13th and in 4th - 3rd, respectively.
Following the conclusion of the Six Invitational 2020, Fnatic's roster was set to move from Australia to Japan. However, the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic forced the roster to compete in APAC North from their home country.
Heading to the 2022 season, Fnatic decided to build a roster from scratch. The organization built a Japanese roster, including Etienne "Mag" Rousseau, who made his return to the starting five in the third stage of APAC North 2022.
Year 8 has been Fnatic's last Rainbow Six Siege season in Japan. The roster couldn't win a single match in the Japan League, while their best place-finish in the Last Chance Qualifiers was fifth in Stage 2.
While Fnatic is now evaluating its future in Rainbow Six Siege, the team is also "exploring options in keeping him within the Fnatic ecosystem in a way that makes sense for him and his ambitions."
